Six years ago life changed for Lynda Leigh… after losing her mother and grandmother in a short period her motto in life changed. “Life’s short, when there’s a huge change, you reassess,” Leigh said, and reassess she did. Leigh is an information specialist by day and purchased a bright orange 1980 Datsun Stanza, taking up rally driving on the weekend. Fast-forward to today and Leigh has been nominated to speak at the upcoming Technology Entertainment Design (TEDx) in Canberra. The annual event reflects on the TEDx Canberra community, where speakers share insights, research, dedication to their work and creativity to entice the personal exploration of the meaning of momentum. Her passion for motor sport has been described as a ‘mid-life’ crisis and was born from watching the Rally of Canberra… though she never thought for a moment she would be a competitor herself. Leigh will discuss issues surrounding a shift in culture as a competitor and how rallying changed her life.
TEDx Canberra presents Momentum, Saturday, 16 September, Canberra Theatre Centre. For further information and to book head to:
