Suzanne Ashlin has been announced as the 2018 recipient of the Women of Australian Motor Sport (WAMS) Virgin Australia Supercar Championship Trans-Tasman Officials Exchange.
Now in it’s third year, the program will provide Ashlin the opportunity to attend and work at the 2018 ITM Auckland SuperSprint in November.
Hailing from Tasmania, Ashlin’s resume is impressive, with a nomination for the 2016 National Secretary for HQ Racing Australia and time working in Supply and Timing.
After being announced as the successful applicant, the Tasmanian was thrilled with the chance to travel to New Zealand.
“It is a fantastic, once in a lifetime, opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and skills,” Ashlin said.
“I’m looking forward to bringing new knowledge back to Australia to apply at future VASC and local race events.”
With many worthy officials applying for the position, WAMS Committee representative, Ebone Coats revealed that Ashlin was chosen due to her successful past.
“WAMS had a difficult time coming to a decision but Ashlin’s application presented as outstanding,” Coats said.
“We feel that as the first female National Committee member of HQRA’, along with her engagement with motor sport at both a local and national level that she will be an ideal candidate for the exchange.”
“Suzanne has demonstrated her long term passion and commitment as a volunteer, which is at the heart of our motor sport.”
The 2018 ITM Auckland SuperSprint is the penultimate round of the 2018 Supercars series and takes place in Auckland, New Zealand, on 2 – 4 November.
